Reader Stories: How to Take Part

By the editorial team·3 min read

About this section

Reader Stories is an easy way for our readers to share their own experiences relating to the topics of the Touremo magazine with others.

No particular writing skills are required to write a report. The editors only reserve the right to correct spelling mistakes and to rephrase statements that are hard to understand. The authenticity of our readers' contributions is strictly preserved.

Content

Tell us about your personal experiences in nature and/or with traditional, handcrafted regional dishes – whether on your doorstep or in faraway countries. Places of enjoyment such as hotels, restaurants, other hospitality businesses and entire holiday regions may be featured.

Negative reviews, e.g. of the food, the service or general shortcomings, are not accepted – after all, we want our readers to benefit from other users' good tips.

Topics with a cultural angle are welcome too, but such descriptions should not make up more than a third of the text.

Preferably choose pictures that convey fascination and/or document or illustrate aspects mentioned in the text.

Texts may be submitted in German, English, Spanish, French or Italian.

Requirements

  • The text is no longer than 7,000 characters including spaces.
  • Use only your own pictures or pictures from sources that have explicitly authorised their use.
  • No more than 7 pictures per contribution.
  • Pictures should have a resolution of at least 1200 x 860 pixels.
  • Where possible, but not necessarily, each photo has a caption describing what it shows. It can be anything from a single word to at most one full sentence (one or two lines).
  • As a rule, pictures should be in landscape format; at most two per contribution may be in portrait format.
  • Authors choose one landscape picture to serve as the lead/cover image of their contribution.
  • Authors place the photos in the text and also send them separately as image files attached to the email or, for larger amounts of data, in a folder, e.g. via WeTransfer or SwissTransfer.
  • Please send texts and pictures to: leser@touremo.com

Authors agree that…

  • contributions are published only under their real name, not under pseudonyms or nicknames; places of residence and job titles are not given, academic titles are, if you tell us them.
  • ideological or socio-political statements, whether explicit or implicit, are not permitted and will be removed by the editors accordingly. In some cases the whole article may be excluded from publication.
  • in pictures showing unknown people, care is taken that these people are merely incidental, for example when they happen to appear in a landscape or on a street. Photographers accept that the editors will reject pictures in which people unrelated to the text – children in particular – can be clearly identified. The same applies to licence plates and similar means of unintended identification.
  • the editors will always reject texts by authors who have been commissioned or even paid by tourism organisations, hospitality businesses, companies etc. Our Reader Stories section is expressly not a platform for influencer or content-creator marketing.
